IPPLUS Wireless Broadband. Here. There. And Everywhere In-Between.

1 "Downlink speed" refers to the speed at which you can receive (i.e., download) information, such as an email attachment or audio file, and is the key measure when comparing other broadband solutions. "Uplink speed" refers to the speed at which you can send (i.e., upload) information. Similar to Cable and DSL, actual speeds may vary and are not guaranteed. Many factors can influence download speeds, such as weather, building structure, location or network traffic, as well as service plan selected.

2  Latency refers to the time it takes for data to travel between sender and receiver, and is very important in real-time applications. IPPLUS Wireless Broadband's typical latency, or average delay, is 100ms or below.

IPPLUS Wireless Broadband allows you to download large files, music and photos in seconds, and virtually eliminates the waiting.

The IPPLUS Solution

The IPPLUS solution is centered on FLASH (Fast Low-latency Access with Seamless Handoff) OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing), an innovative air interface technology designed for the delivery of advanced Internet services in the mobile environment. As its name suggests, the technology is based on the OFDM airlink, a wireless access method that combines the attributes of its two predecessors - TDMA and CDMA - to address the unique demands posed by mobile users of broadband data and packetized voice applications.

FLASH-OFDM is the culmination of a focused design effort to produce a broadband mobile communications system utilizing standard Internet protocols (IP). At the core of the system is this highly efficient, mobile implementation of OFDM, along with IPPLUS's Vector-LDPC codes - an advanced and efficient forward error correction code scheme.

Through FLASH-OFDM, IPPLUS has created an end-to-end network for licensed operators, which includes the RadioRouter basestation product line, wireless modems, embedded chipsets, and system software. The all-IP IPPLUS network will support both broadband data and packetized voice.

In conjunction with Alliance members, IPPLUS is developing, marketing and deploying its RadioRouter basestation products as part of an end-to-end network solution. IPPLUS's wireless modem devices mobilize laptops, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) and other devices without making any modifications to user settings, applications, protocols, content or the devices themselves. The Company is also facilitating the development of numerous FLASH-OFDM enabled devices through the availability of chipsets and licenses, which will serve as reference designs. IPPLUS intends to work with all of its customers and Alliance members to develop the global market and standardize the FLASH-OFDM air interface technology. The following chart illustrates IPPLUS's initial product offerings and roadmap:

The IPPLUS RadioRouter® base station performs just like an Internet Protocol (IP)-based router in the Local Area Network, but with mobile Wide Area Network coverage that aggregates mobile access to any IP-based network from users with FLASH-OFDM PC cards. The system provides broadband data and packet voice services to mobile users, with latency (delay) as low as 40 milliseconds. The RadioRouter powers the cell site with a LAN-like experience for data users, with an average sustainable throughput of 1.5 Megabits per second (Mbps) per sector, and peak user data rates of 3 Mbps in only 1.25 MHz of paired radio spectrum.
